An ancient shrine known for its giant shimenawa rope, the largest in Japan at 3 tons. The Path of Light, which runs straight from the stone steps of the approach to the Genkai Sea, became known across Japan as the scene where the sunset falls in line with the approach just twice a year. Matsugae-mochi, sold at the teahouses along the approach, is a local specialty that you can eat freshly grilled as you stroll.
