An ancient shrine enshrining Emperor Chuai and Empress Jingu. Its main hall is designated a nationally Important Cultural Property for its unique architectural style called Kashii-zukuri. The approach is lined with beautiful camphor trees, and Furo-sui, one of Japan's 100 Famous Waters, springs in the back of the grounds. It is also known as the place associated with makigaki, an old, famous Fukuoka confection.
