The royal castle of the Ryukyu Kingdom, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000 as part of the "Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu." The main hall and other buildings were lost in a fire in 2019, and reconstruction work is underway with completion targeted for autumn 2026. Visitors can view the reconstruction work in progress.
