A shrine enshrining Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning, affectionately known as Tenjin-san. The Tenjin Festival in July is one of Japan's three great festivals, known for the boat procession on the Okawa River and votive fireworks. Japan's longest shopping street, Tenjinbashisuji, extends from the south side of the grounds, so you can enjoy a shrine visit and shopping together.
