Shibazuke (Kyoto pickles) from a shop in front of Yase-Hieizanguchi Station in Kyoto. It has plenty of cucumber and a zesty kick from ginger and myoga (Japanese ginger). It is so good that other shibazuke may seem lacking, and it is welcomed as a gift.

What Japanese buyers say
The one reviewer found these shibazuke pickles lively, with plenty of cucumber and a kick from ginger and myoga, and was hooked enough to stop eating other brands. The shop sits by the station near the Hiei cable car, so it is easy to buy before the train home, and it makes a gift people enjoy.
