Shimodatami is a sweet from Rokkatei, the maker famous for Marusei Butter Sand.
On Rokkatei's website it is introduced as "an edible cappuccino"!
The pie has chocolate kneaded into it, so you can enjoy the taste of chocolate along with the flaky, crisp texture.
The filling inside the chocolate pie is delicious as well.
The secret is Rokkatei's own special mocha white chocolate cream!!
It is easy to see why it is called "an edible cappuccino."

The product name "Shimodatami" also has an origin that is typical of Rokkatei.
It is said to recreate the crisp "saku" sensation by overlapping the sound and feel of stepping on the ground on the morning of the first frost with the image of the moment you bite into the pie.

Why not taste Hokkaido's first frost in the form of an "edible cappuccino"?

What Japanese buyers say

The one reviewer calls this a crisp, grown-up chocolate pie from Rokkatei with a pleasant crunch meant to evoke stepping on frosty ground. They note the flavor is strongly cappuccino or coffee, and the light texture suits a tea break.
